So Huda Beauty recently launched a new eyeshadow palette called DESERT DUST Palette and my experience with the previous palette ( Check it out HERE ), I almost didn’t want to get it.  But I saw a lot of good reviews and the beautiful shade selection, I decided to go for it, hoping its wasn’t  like the previous one. Let’s get into it.

PACKAGING;

The cover of the palette features Huda’s eyes with a metallic detailing, the shimmer and crystals on her headpiece glistens as you move the palette in the light. It also came with a separator, and unlike most separators that are clear, this one has glammed-up Huda eye area on it. It is BEAUTIFUL. And unlike the packaging of the previous palette, this new one has a mirror and looks more high-end.

The MATTE shades are pigmented and smooth but not buttery smooth, the formula is a little dry when swatching them, but they surprisingly didn’t feel dry on the eyes and did blend out beautifully. They are not stiff and are really opaque. I love the colour selection, although I wish there was a black shade in it. The dark brown shade isn’t dark enough for my complexion. I did experience fall out with the matte shades, not like crazy fall out, but quiet noticeable.

The PRESSED PEARL are very creamy and soft. They are very pigmented, smooth and very opaque. They apply beautifully on the eyes either with a brush or your finger.

The DUO CHROME TOPPER (Retrograde, Twilight, and Celestial) are designed to be layered on another eyeshadow. They are very pretty. They are pigmented and smooth. They can be layered on shimmery/matte shades for more intensity or even used alone for a subtle glam although they aren’t fully opaque used alone.. The brand recommends blending these into the base shadow with a brush or apply with finger to maximise the reflection. I prefer to use a synthetic brush to apply it than my fingertip, because I find that most of the product get stuck to my finger and don’t show up as much.

The PURE GLITTER (Cosmo) is not really pressed pressed glitters lol! but not loosed glitters that get everywhere, just in-between. Can be applied with or without adhesive on a shimmery or matte shadow. They aren’t difficult to apply with finger or synthetic brush. Quite nice.

I really think they did a fantastic job with this Palette. From the packaging to the different formulas and the shade selection. I love it everything and they sure did consider feedbacks from their first palette to improve this new one. I didn’t find any shade to be problematic, they are all much more blendable and easier to work with than the Rose Gold Palette. I love the Duo-chrome Toppers, they’re different and so beautiful!

Let us know your thoughts if you got one.

Have a wonderful day guys.

  1. this palette is one of my fav palettes that launched this year. I got this and the Kat von D saints and sinners palette but honestly the hudabeauty desert dusk palette is a win for me. They are quite pricey no doubt but definitely worth the money. Id recommend the hudabeauty desert dusk palette for someone who want a quality palette with a variety of shades and finishes.
