I will be reviewing the hottest product the beauty community is raving about right now. It is the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer which was recently launched. What makes this concealer interesting for me is that, it is said to be a dupe for my all time favourite concealer, Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. Tarte Shape Tape has my heart, it’s my number 1. So let’s get into it, I’m sure you all want to hear my thoughts on it.
The concealer for everyone. 18 shades ranging from fair to deep, in cool, neutral and warm undertones. Lightweight yet full coverage concealer to cover blemishes, even skin tone and counteract dark circles, with a matte finish that won’t settle or accentuate fine lines and pores. Long wearing intense pigment that can also be used to contour and add definition. Our large doe foot applicator allows for smooth application that won’t drag on the delicate skin under your eyes.
I picked up two shades C12 and C13. C12 is a perfect highlight shade for me, C13 is too red and slightly darker.
This concealer comes in a 3.4ml( quiet small) standard clear tube with a sleek rose gold lid. It is cute and doesn’t look cheap. It has large doe foot applicator that dispenses just the right amount of products.
The Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer is a medium coverage concealer that feels lightweight. It covers up my dark circles and highlights my under eye beautifully. It is thick in consistency and creamy. It blends easily into the skin leaving a matte finish.
It dries down fairly quickly. I leave it to set for like 30 second for more coverage and it still blends out nicely. It doesn’t look cakey or feel heavy at all. Once it’s set with powder, no creasing or settling into lines under my eyes.
Overall, I like this concealer. It feels super lightweight and has a beautiful coverage. I don’t have anything bad to say about it.
The BIG question, Is the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer a dupe for the TARTE SHAPE TAPE CONCEALER?? Here is what I will say;
- The Makeup Revolution Concealer definitely has a thinner, more liquid consistency than Tarte Shape Tape Concealer.
- They both have similar applicator that I love. It applies really smoothly and quickly.
- Tarte Shape Tape has way more coverage than the Makeup Revolution. Makeup Revolution is medium coverage.
- They are both matte. But Tarte Shape Tape is more mattifying.
- Makeup Revolution Concealer has a better shade range then the Tarte Shape Tape.
In conclusion, NO, the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer isn’t a dupe for the Tarte Shape Tape concealer in my opinion. Although Tarte messed up big time with the way they handled the backlash they received for their non inclusive shade range of the new Shape Tape foundation, the Shape Tape Concealer is still is number 1, especially for full glam looks. The Makeup Revolution is definitely nice for both day and night-time looks. It highlights the undereye area beautifully and if you are on a budget, you can go for it.
I think it would have made more sense if it was compared to the COLOURPOP NO FILTER CONCEALER not Tarte Shape Tape.
Have you tried it and what are your thoughts?
