Tarte Cosmetics recently teamed up with beauty vlogger and social media personality MakeupShayla (love her) a popular LA based makeup artist, for a collaboration that caters to women of colour. YASSSSSSSSSSSS hunti!
The Tarteist contour palette ($45) was designed specifically for contouring, sculpting and highlighting darker skin tones. It comes in purple and gold packaging. Once you remove it from the outer packaging, you will have this beautiful gold circular palette that looks very luxurious and its travel friendly.
The palette includes 6 silky, blendable powders and a coordinating, step-by-step guide from Shayla.
- Highlight – Matte highlighter, illuminates center of face while softening fine lines.
- Correct – Yellow correcting powder, adds dimension and neutralizes redness or discolorations.
- Soft/Deep Contour – Separate contouring shades for defining light-to-medium or medium-to-dark skin tones.
- Accentuate – Rosy blush accentuates cheekbones with soft, complexion-enhancing colour.
- Glow – Shimmer highlighter brightens and illuminates the angles of the face.
This collaboration a definitely a huge success. The powders are very pigmented, silky smooth, blends easily on the skin and a little goes a long way.. Once I pick up this palette, I need just few makeup items to glam up my face. I love that it has two contour shades for dark/deep skin tone .
The deep contour is actually too dark for me (nw43). I have to mix it with the soft contour shade(3). You need light of this powder to contour, so it doesn’t look dirty. The highlight shade I thought I was going to be disappointed in, but no hunni. That highlight shade is bomb.. You need very little and you will be glowing all day.
I have also used the Correct shades to set my concealer, and it didn’t look ashy at all.. It just set nicely but I was worried my concealer would crease, so I used my Laura mercier on top.. I would definitely try it alone soon.
The blush doesn’t show on my face no matter how much I apply..Its too light.. That’s makeupshayla for you tho. She uses blush but they are alway subtle shades..
In addition to a contour palette, you can also use it as an eyeshadow palette. You have the perfect crease and lid colours.
Overall, I am happy I purchased this palette, although the price hurts but it didn’t disappoint. It’s limited edition, you better get it as soon as you can.
